A STUDY IN MATERIAL AND LINEAGE

AgujaOscura® is my independent studio practice, rooted in material exploration, lineage, and slow craft. Conceived as a space for deliberate making, the studio exists outside of seasonal cycles and trend-driven production, allowing objects to develop through time, repetition, and use.

The practice draws from personal history — summers spent in Guatemala with my grandfather, a tailor who worked late into the night from a small, hand-built studio — as well as years spent working within fashion, editorial, and cultural institutions. These experiences inform an approach that values restraint, process, and the quiet authority of well-made objects.

Each piece is designed and constructed by hand, using thoughtfully sourced leathers chosen for their character and capacity to age. Variations, marks, and imperfections are not corrected, but honored, allowing the material to record its own history alongside that of its wearer.

A.O. functions as both studio and study — a place where ideas around authorship, material honesty, and endurance are explored without compromise. The practice informs how I approach all collaborative work, grounding it in lived experience and an understanding of what it means to make, revise, and stand behind an object over time.
